Louis Vuitton Appoints Handbag Whizz Johnny Coca
Louis Vuitton appoints the famous and iconic leather goods designer and former Creative Director of Mulberry, Johnny Coca as the Director of its luxurious women’s leather goods division which would take effect from the 2nd of June.
He would be working closely with the brand’s womenswear Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière.
He is not a newbie to Louis Vuitton as he began his career working in their Leather goods division just after graduating from the Beaux-Arts and the School of Arts Boulle appliqués in Paris after which he moved on to Bally and later to Celine where he was opportune to work with Phoebe Philo.
He became the Creative Director of the British deluxe handbag label, Mulberry in 2015 and had remained the creative director for 5 consecutive years before announcing his departure in March.
He said that this would be a return for him to his roots where he had the chance to live his passion for the first time and where he learned the fundamentals of his profession in the heart of the workshops in Asnières.
Nicolas Ghesquière welcomes Jonny Coca to the Maison Louis Vuitton and he said that he was happy that Coca would be joining him in this beautiful creative adventure that started several years ago.
Delphine Arnault, Louis Vuitton Executive Vice President also welcomed the arrival of Johnny Coca and she said that she was delighted with Johnny’s return to Louis Vuitton and the LVMH Group.
She further added that she strongly believes that he would enrich their creative and innovative capacity upon his return as Johnny knows the spirit of Louis Vuitton and the beautiful aura that the brand exudes.
She also added that Johnny shares in the vision of Louis Vuitton and that she is very delighted that he is joining the brand.
