U.S. Fashion and Beauty retailers are beginning to reopen its stores just as several states and counties in the United States have begun alleviation of the lockdown measures that were mandated and set in motion in the bid to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic with the permission of nonessential businesses like clothing stores to reopen.

Fashion retail chains like Gap and Nordstrom are optimistic in recovering its recorded losses in its brick and mortar sales following closure of its stores during these several weeks of lockdown.

Whilst setting up precautionary measures for an exciting, enjoyable and risk-free shopping experience.

Most of these fashion retailers are prepared to reopen their massive store fleets in states like Georgia and Texas and as such, they have put up certain precautionary measures for their customers to enjoy an exciting, enjoyable, and risk-free shopping experience.

Some of these precautionary measures would rely on the set down guidelines by the local officials.

Gap inc. had earlier announced on the 6th of May the reopening of 800 of its brand stores Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap, Athleta, Intermix, and Janie and Jack before the end of May 2020 by first reopening its Texas stores.

They also intend to expand its doorstep pickup service which is currently available in about 75 locations.

Nordstrom is still yet to reopen any of its stores but it did announce the permanent shut down of 16 of its stores. It intends reopening of its other stores by a gradual phased market-by-market approach based on guidelines laid down by local officials and by ensuring to set up certain precautionary measures as well.

Macy’s reopened 68 of its stores on the 5th of may and still intends to reopen another 50 of its stores in states like Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and South Carolina on the 11th of May. It also intends to reopen its remaining 775 stores by Mid-June.

These measures include no ear piercing, no touching of makeup samples, no bra fittings, no beauty services, compulsory wellness checks for its employees, provision of sneeze guards at the register, provision of hand sanitizing stations, and the provision of fragrance bottles by only its employees.

Abercrombie & Fitch started reopening its stores on the 8th of May and have also set up certain precautionary measures such as the provision of face masks, compulsory health screening for its employees, ensuring rigorous cleaning, strict adherence to social distancing, the set up of plexiglass barriers in some locations, ensuring contactless payment options, ensuring reduced opening hours of its stores and quarantining tried on and returned items.

Tapestry Inc. is still yet to fully reopen its stores but it offers pickup with or without virtual shopping appointments at about 40 locations in the United States. They have also set aside certain safety precautionary measures such as rigorous cleaning, provision of face masks, strict adherence to social distancing, and provision of hand sanitizing stations.

American Eagle had opened 43 of its over 1000 American Eagle and Aerie stores on the 7th of May and still intends to open 600 of its stores by the end of May. They have also put in place safety precautionary measures to give its customers a wonderful, enjoyable and risk-free shopping experience.

They have also set up certain safety precautionary measures like rigorous cleaning, the provision of face masks, provision of plexiglass barriers, strict adherence to social distancing, ensuring reduced opening hours, ensuring cashless checkout, and ensuring contactless pick at some locations.
